COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways.
It’s caused by a type of virus called a coronavirus.

COVID-19 is a serious issue for our whānau Māori.

COVID 19 continues to be a serious illness all over the world.

The current outbreak of both Delta and Omicron Variants in Aotearoa are serious and so we must all make sure we continue to follow traffic light framework restrictions.

As well as following framework setting restrictions, you should:

  • Wash your hands regularly

  • Stay home if you are māuiui

  • Keep 2m social distancing

  • Wear a Facemask when at the supermarket or going to the shops

  • Use the COVID tracer app and bluetooth tracing, or make a note of where you have been.

The COVID-19 vaccine is another important measure to keep yourself, your whānau and those who can't be vaccinated safe from

COVID-19. More information about the COVID-19 vaccine is available here

Not matter where we are living, the most important thing is that you are vigilant and continue to keep yourself, your whānau and all those you love and care about safe and healthy.

Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui, kia mataara.

Using the COVID tracer app

The NZ COVID tracer app has been updated to include Bluetooth technology tracing.

Bluetooth technology tracing allows you to receive an alert if you have been near another app user who has tested positive for COVID-19.

You still need to scan QR codes to keep track of where you have been.  Bluetooth is an added tool- it helps keep track of the people you’ve been near.

More information about using Bluetooth on the COVID-19 tracing app is available here
