COVID-19 Traffic Light Framework Red Phases 1, 2 & 3

Aotearoa is currently in Red Light phase 3.

 

The support you receive from the health system will look different at each phase due to varying capacity levels and resources.

Life at red phase 1

  • There are some cases in the community and the aim is to stamp out the virus.

  • Positive cases will be notified by phone call and must isolate for 14 days.

  • Close contacts isolate for 10 days

Life at red phase 2

  • Cases have spread in the community and the aim is to slow the spread and protect vulnerable communities.

  • Positive cases will be notified by text and must isolate for 10 days.

  • Close contacts isolate for 7 days.

  • There are thousands of cases per day and most people self-manage with health and social services focusing on communities with the highest needs.

  • Positive cases will be notified by text and must isolate for 10 days.
